ARTIST NUMBER 5..............STANLEY CLARKE 

Stanley Clarke was Born on 30th June 1951 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA.

He First Played the Bass as a Schoolboy, when in his Music Class, the Bass was the only Instrument left to Play! 

He later Graduated from the Philadelphia Musical Academy.

During 1971, he was to Move to New York City, and began Working with Various Musicians and Bandleaders including: Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Pharoah Sanders, Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Gato Barbieri, Chick Corea, Stan Getz and Gil Evans.

Around 1972 he Joined the "Jazz Fusion Band" Return to Forever, which was Lead by Pianist and Synth Player "Chick Corea" they Released their Self-Titled Debut Album that Year.

The following Year of 1973, Stanley Clarke Released his Debut Album, on Polydor Records, Named "Children of Forever"


He so far as Released 20 Solo Albums, and 7 Albums with "Return to Forever" he has featured on Albums as a Co-Leader, Sideman or a Band Member with Several Different Artists, See Full List Below, He has also Produced for Several Artists, Stanley Clarke has also had his Music Featured in Movies, Tv Movies and TV.

He has also Collaborated with some of the Biggest Artists of all Time, including George Duke, Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Lenny White, Ron Wood, Howard Hewett, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Billy Cobham, Larry Carlton, etc.

FUNKY-SOUL-VINYLS CLASSIC SOUL AND FUNK ALBUMS OF THE 60's 70's and 80's # 6

In this Series of Posts, I will writing about a Particular Classic Soul/Funk Album from the 60's 70's and 80's

The one's that stand out in my Mind, as The Best Soul/Funk/Jazz/R&B Albums ever Released. All of them, I                             purchased as Vinyl many Years ago and also I have them on CD today.

You may have a Differing view (as we all do) on these Choices, but these are my Favorites!

NUMBER 6...IN FLIGHT...GEORGE BENSON

Jazz Guitarist George Benson Released his 16th Album "In Flight" in 1977, it was on Warner Brothers Records, and Produced by Tommy LiPuma, it was Recorded between August and November 1976, it also went Platinum.


The previous Album "Breezin' was Released in 1976 and Proved to be George Benson's First Crossover Hit, making him one of the First Jazz Musicians to Gain Mainstream Success!

I remember buying this Album in '77, one thing that always sticks out in my mind, was the Birds on the Album Cover!


All the Tracks are Great, but if I had to pick One Favorite, it would have to be "Everything Must Change" The featured Piano solo is Great! 


George Benson's First Album Release was back in 1964, he was part of the "Brother Jack Macduff Quartet" the Album was called "The New Boss Guitar"


By 1966, George Benson had formed his own Quartet, and Released an Album under the name "The George Benson Quartet" entitled "Its Uptown" 


George Benson went on to become, One of the Biggest Jazz Crossover Musicians ever!
