SLAVE part 3

As I said in previous post, Slave's Music from the 4th Album was about to become mellower, with
Steve Arrington performing more Lead Vocals as time went by!

The 4th Album "Just a Touch of Love" was released in 1979, Jimmy Douglass produced the first 3 tracks and the Band Produced the rest, it contained 3 Singles, all had Steve Arrington on Lead Vocals...
"Funky Lady" Roots" and one of Slaves Best ever Tracks "
Just a Touch of Love"

Starleana Young and Curt Jones were also in Slave at this time, so with them and Steve Arrington on Vocals, Slave had a much more commercial sound than before.

By 1980 Slave released the Stone Jam Album, a better Album than "Just a Touch", it contained some Great Classic Tracks including Sizzlin' Hot, Watching You, and my Favorite Feel My Love!

The Album was co-produced by Jimmy Douglass and Band member Steve Washington.

This was to be Starleana Young and Curt Jones last appearance on a Slave Album, they left to form Aurra.

1981 saw the release of the "Showtime" Album, this was to be Steve Arrington's last Slave Album!

Arrington did Vocals Drums and Percussion.

Produced again by Jimmy Douglass, and probably Better than the previous album!

It contained some Great Tracks, including Snap Shot, Party Lites, Spice of life, Steal your Heart, and two funkier Tracks Funken Town and Smokin and one of Slave's Greatest Ever Tracks " Wait For Me"

I always remember getting this Vinyl from the USA, when my Parents went there on Holiday, unfornately with the Heat in the Aeroplane luggage hold, the Vinyl Melted, so I could never play the first Tracks on side 1 & 2,
Snap Shot and Wait For Me!

NATHAN STILL NOT RIGHT & HOMELESS AGAIN!

After the operation things still wasn't right with Nathan, so obviously Susan stayed at the Hospital all the time and I was back at work, but at the Hospital all other times.

The card above was what the Hospital gave us after we had Nathan Baptised, because as I said in previous post, there was a chance, Nathan wouldn't make it!

At this time we were still living with Susan's Grand parents at the other end of Town, so as my Mother lived 2 minutes from the Hospital, I stayed there for a few nights, I told Susan's Nanny this and she understood!
Anyway as Susan was running out of clothes to wear, she asked me to pop to her Nanny's and get her some more clothes!

This I did, and to my surprise when I got to the House, Susan's Step Grandad started having a go at me, saying I was using his Wife and where the Hell I had been in the last few days!

I cant remember all that was said, but one thing stood out was when he called a Sh*thouse! and said we Had to move out!

So with all that was happening to Nathan and us at this time, we were once again Homeless!

At the time we were devasted, but looking back in hindsight, we were glad to get out of there, as I said before we knew for a fact  they were going through our belongings and stuff when we were out!

So a blessing in disquise, and we never spoke to him again, he has since died.

As for Susan's Nanny, we never spoke to her again either, but about 15 years later I was working at an Old Folk's Home as a Chef, and when I finished my Duties I used to help with the Old People, and guess who used to come to the Day Centre about 3 days a week!

Yes it was Susan's Nanny! she thought I was a "lovely man" but by this time she had Dimentia, and could'nt remember who I was!

How Ironic, I had to look after somebody who had made us Homeless when we had a Sick Son!

Funny how things change!

This is the Card of Reverend Ian Hoyle
 who Baptised Nathan.

BANDS AND SINGERS I HAVE SEEN IN CONCERT!!!!!! part 3

A couple of things concerning the Groups I have seen in concert, probably the Worse Group I saw was The Dazz Band, they played like a Rock Band! you would have never of guessed they were a Funk/Soul Band to hear how they played!

One thing that did happen during this Concert what I always remembered, I was taken short and needed the Toilet, so my Wife stood waiting outside, when I was followed into the Toilet by this Black Chap, my Wife said she was worried about what was going to happen! was I about to get my head kicked in!

As it turned out, the Chap was Wayne Foote of Slave , he sung Lead and Backing Vocals on 2 of Slave's Album's in '83 and '84, the Bad Enuff (Wayne Foote, 3rd on the left) and New Plateau albums.

I had worn my Slave T-Shirt at the Dazz Band Concert and he had seen it and came over just to say hello, he as I remember was a nice chap and he talked for a few minutes about Slave and the Dazz Band, he also signed a book I had, and he also agreed about The Dazz Band being to Rocky!

I wonder what happened to Wayne Foote, I have looked on Web, but not much info!
