WORKMATES & STANLEY TURRENTINE!

I remember when I was working at Bransbys Meat Factory Around the middle of 1981, I used to Bike to work, I only lived about 10 minutes away, that was the only Good Thing about Working there!

Most of the Blokes who Worked on my Section, were Alright! One had a Motorbike, so of course He had loads of Long Hair, and Stunk of Grease! another 2 of them were Right Know it All's, come to think about it,  in fact 3 of them were like that!

The Chap who made the Sausages was a Right Big Head, and we had another one who Worked Next to me most of the time, how can I say it, he was the sort of Chap who Skived off alot (most of us did!) and was very Concerned who I had been Talking to and who I had been standing near the previous day!

One of the better places to Skive off was the Smoke House, although it was a bit Smelly, it was always Hot!

The 2 Chaps in Charge of the Smoke House were a bit Younger than me, their Names were "Robin and I cant remember the others name", but they were  Probably the 2 best Workers there!

There was plenty of  Overtime available there, but I never did any, because I Really Hated the place!

I always Regretted, Leaving my Previous Employment and starting Work there!
Music of that time, I remember Buying a Commercial Jazz Album, Called "Tender Togetherness" by Stanley Turrentine, (This was my First Album I had purchased by Stanley Turrentine) it was Produced by Larry Dunn of Earth Wind & Fire.

The Album Featured some Great Musicians, ie Several members of  EW&F including Philip Bailey and the "Phenix Horns", as well as Nathan East, Paulinho DaCosta, Ndugu Chancler, Have a Listen to a few of the Tracks, especially the EW&F Cover!

My Favorite is Hermanos, have a Listen!

MUSIC CENTRE AND AURRA

As I said in Previous Post, the place I now Worked, (Bransby's Meat Factory) was by Far the BIGGEST DUMP I had ever worked at/for/in!

In fact the place was such a Crappy Company/Place to work for, I started doing something I had never done in my Working Life before,  SKIVE OFF WORK! in fact most of the Blokes who worked in my Section all did the same as me!

I have never known anywhere, Before or Since where so many Workers did Skive Off, I cannot Understate what a Complete Dump that Place was, nobody seemed to like working there, Apart the Old Boys and the Lick Arses, and there were a Few of them!

One particular Afternoon Skive I remember, was when I got my New Sharp Music Centre from the  Wife's Catologue, I have searched the Web for a Photo, but cant find it, this picture is quite like the Sharp, but I had a Twin Cassette, which cost about £50 more!

I used to put all my Vinyl Music on to Tape as I spent a lot of time Cycling in those days, I had Cheap version of the Sony Walkman!
One such Album I Recorded from Vinyl to Tape was  Aurra's second  Release "Send Your Love" I believe I purchased from my Friend's  Shop (Stuart) in Great Yarmouth, it was a US Import!

It contained 3 Great Track's "Nasty Disposition" Send Your Love and my Favorite Track "Are You Single"

NEW JOB AND RICK JAMES

Around March 1981, we had been in our New Flat for a little while, we got on with most of the Neighbours (we were in a Block of 6 Flats), apart the Husband of the Couple Directly below us, she was Alright, but him, he thought He was in charge of the block of Flats.
As I remember he had a Dog that was always Barking, I remember his Missus was once Crying, as he had Beat her up! what a Dickhead!
Natalie had Her 1st Birthday in early March, by my next Post I have a few Photos I can use, see previous post why we did not have too many Early Photos of Natalie!

Another thing concerning one of our Neighbour's, she lived directly opposite us on the 2nd Floor, we got on with her Quite Well, she was a bit older than us and Divorced, she had a Couple of Kids as well. She had a Bloke living with Her, who turned out to be a Workmate of mine, we had worked in the same Butcher's!

By April of 1981 I had had enough of Dewhurst's the Butchers, and left their Employment, I cannot remember the Reason's,(the only Reason I can Remember the Dates is Because Nine Months after starting my New Job, I was laid off!) I started Work At Meat Factory, it was called "Bransby's"

That was the Biggest Dump I have ever Worked, I had Probably one of the Better Jobs there, cutting up Legs of Pork, but doing this all Day Long, becomes Pretty Boring!

The Wages Were Crap as well, what a Mistake I had made, by finishing my Previous Employment and working there! as I said a What a Complete Dump and a Crappy Company to Work for!
The only thing Good about the Place was "Never Working Nights, Weekends or Bank Holidays!

The Music around this Period was Great!  One Great Album released in April 1981 was "Street Songs" by Rick James, it contained some Great Tracks including "Give it to me Baby" Superfreak and the Ballad with "Teena Marie" Fire and Desire!

This was Rick James 5th out of 13 Studio Albums he was to Release before his Death in 2004, It went Platinum, it also attained the following Chart Positions in US Pop Chart  Number 3 and US R&B Chart  Number 1.

Rick James had a Troubled Life but he made some Great Music!
